Updating ArtiCAD.

New version.
Interim update.

This chapter covers updating your existing installation of ArtiCAD.

There are two types of update that you will receive:

A completely new version of ArtiCAD e.g. Version 15.0, Version 15.5, Version 16. These will be sent to you on CD and contain significant changes to the ArtiCAD system.
An interim update e.g. Version 15 Build 23, Version 15 Build 35. These are available to download from the "Software Updates" section of "Member's Area" of the ArtiCAD website. These contain bug fixes as well as minor changes to the ArtiCAD system.

These instructions provide a general overview of installing updates. Please check the release notes supplied with the update for any additional installation instructions.

NOTE - updating your version of ArtiCAD does not automatically update the installed manufacturer graphics. Check the Door, Appliance and Texture Libraries sections in the Members Area of the ArtiCAD website to see if updates are available for your installed manufacturers.

New Version.

IMPORTANT: Exit from ArtiCAD before installing any updates.

Insert the ArtiCAD Installation CD into your computer. The disk should automatically start up and display the installation selector screen. If it fails to start automatically (depends on the security settings for your version of Windows) you will have to explore the CD and run "INSTALLER.EXE".

Click the UPDATE Existing ArtiCAD button.

Wait for the installer to check the integrity of the CD.

Click Next.

Read and then accept the licence terms and conditions by ticking the box. Then click Next.

Choose the location for your ArtiCAD installation (if you are unsure, leave it as the default). Then click Install.

If the Install button is greyed out, there is a problem with the destination folder. Most probable cause is lack of disk space or the current user has insufficient permissions to write to the destination folder.

The update will then start. Note – this may take several minutes depending on the speed of your computer.

To complete the update, click Finish.

This will return you to the installation selector screen.

Interim updates.

IMPORTANT: Exit from ArtiCAD before installing any updates.

IMPORTANT: Ensure you are installing the correct update! Installing an older update onto a newer version (e.g. Version 15.0 Build 14 onto Version 15.0 Build 23) can cause your system to stop working.
