This chapter covers installing ArtiCAD for the first time. For instructions on updating a previous version, see Update Installation.
Insert the ArtiCAD Installation CD into your computer. The disk should automatically start up and display the installation selector screen. If it fails to start automatically (depends on the security settings for your version of Windows) you will have to explore the CD and run "INSTALLER.EXE".
Click the FIRST TIME ArtiCAD Installation button.
Wait for the installer to check the integrity of the CD.
Click Next.
Read and then accept the licence terms and conditions by ticking the box. Then click Next.
Choose the location for your ArtiCAD installation (if you are unsure, leave it as the default). Then click Install.
If the Install button is greyed out, there is a problem with the destination folder. Most probable cause is lack of disk space or the current user has insufficient permissions to write to the destination folder.
The installation will then start.
Note – this may take several minutes depending on the speed of your computer.
To complete the installation, click Finish.
This will return you to the installation selector screen.
You may have also been supplied with an update CD along with the Installation CD. See Update Installation for instructions on installing updates.
Also check the "Software Updates" section of the website for any updates that may have been released since your installation CD was created.

You now need to install the sentinel Drivers, which allow ArtiCAD to see the dongle when it is connected to your computer.
Click on the NOW INSTALL dongle driver button.
You may already have the latest drivers installed, in which case it will tell you and you do not need to proceed any further. Otherwise follow the on-screen instructions.
This will return you to the installation selector screen.

Some of the latest features within ArtiCAD require the installation of the Microsoft .NET Framework.
Click on the DotNet Framework 32-bit button.
You may already have a version installed, in which case it will tell you and give you the option to update. You may also have a newer version installed, in which case you do not need to install this version.
This will return you to the installation selector screen.
Click Quit to leave the installation selector.
You can now install any manufacturer graphics you have been supplied with. See Installing Manufacturer Graphics.
