i-Choose
This tool is designed so that you can choose the materials that iChoose will allow the user to change for the room elements.
Room elements consist of all except handles and doors. The doors are chosen in the door selector and handles are chosen
in the handle selector. The rest is done in the material selector.
.
Assigning Textures to Room Elements
- Use the explorer treeview on the left in the standard manner to browse textures that should appear in iChoose
- When you see the ones you like, select and drag with the mouse to select one or more textures
- Right-click on the selection, you will receive a context menu as shown on the right.
- In the context menu, select which room element you want to assign the texture(s) to.
- You may notice that the room element in the gridview on the right increments it's value accordingly. This shows how many textures
you have associated with each room element at any one time. The textures are rendered using the constant material shader and all room elements are rendered simultaneously so keeping the numbers equal is recommended to maximise the usage of bitmap data.
Editing Your Room Element Assignments
- Look for a room element in the gridview on the right that has at least one material associated with it
- Double-click on that row in the gridview. A window with a list of associated texture thumbnails will appear similar to what is shown here on the right.
- Select a texture in this list
- Right-click on the selection to show a context menu, you can edit, delete that texture or clear all the materials associated with this room element.
Changing the texture size or reflection shader associated with a room element:
- Follow the instructions of the previous section (immediately above)
- Select the edit option in the context menu
- Use the controls to change either the texture size or the reflective shader for that material
- Click the button labelled Apply to save your changes, or exit the dialog using the cross at the top right to cancel.
Saving your selections:
There are two saves from the material selector. One is the export file that iChoose reads, and the other is the option to save
a user file that contains your selections. You can create a library of texture selections to load in and export at any time.
- Go to File->Save and use the Save File Dialog to specify the location of the materials setup you want to save.
- Exit the dialog. The currently loaded materials set up will be exported into the iChoose setup.
Please Note - Bear in mind that the more textures you assign the longer the iChoose will take to download and the longer the rendering set up is.
